Navy lifesavers hone disaster response skills in Kilali lagoon

An exercise to hone the disaster response skills of naval personnel, in an advent of floods and natural hazards, was successfully conducted at the Sangupiddy Causeway in the Kilali lagoon on 30th July 2019.

The programme was mooted in a bid to make the naval lifesavers conversant with crossing of strong river streams to conduct lifesaving missions as well as specific scenarios, while maintaining speed, accuracy and safety.

The exercise was attended by naval personnel of the Special Boat Squadron (SBS), Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) and SLN divers. Lieutenant GJD Buddadasa was the Officer in Charge of the exercise.
