Shrine Room at Tissa Viharaya Kankasanthure opened for worship

The new shrine room constructed at Tissa temple which had been established for the buddhist religious rituals of naval personnel, was opened for worship, today (6th August 2019).

In concurrent with the opening, a whole night Pirith chanting was held under the patronage of Ven. Moragoda Dammananda and Ven Nawadagala Padumakiththi Tissa Theroes, on 5th August. The sacred casket of relics was carried by the Deputy Area Commander Northern Naval Command Commodore Bandula Senarathna in a colourful pageant. The Pirith chanting was followed by an alms giving for Maha Sanga with offering of Pirikara. Merits were bestowed upon the sacrificed war heroes and disabled heroes were blessed for rapid recovery from their ailments. Further the Maha Sanga blessed for the Commander of the Navy and all naval personnel.

Commanding Officers of Naval bases and ships in Northern Naval Area, other officers and large number of sailors were present on these occasions.
