The second rescue mission of SLNS “Gajabhahu”

SLNS “Gajabhahu” of the SL Navy reacted to bring a fisherman who had fallen sick at sea, ashore for medical treatment, today (15 August).

In response to information given by Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources about a fishermen who had suddenly fallen sick onboard “Chathumini 01” which had left Negombo fisheries harbour on 26th July 2019, SL Navy dispatched SLNS “Gajabhahu” for the rescue mission.

Accordingly, the patient was taken safely onboard SLNS “Gajabhahu” at the seas 155 NM off the Galle light house and given basic first aids and then transferred him to a Fast Attack Craft. Thereafter, the patient was brought to the Galle harbour premises and admitted to teaching Hospital-Karapitiya for further treatment.

SL Navy always assists to the seafarers and the fishing folk who fall distress at sea, by search and rescue missions.
