Navy assists fishermen distressed aboard a dinghy

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the fishermen who were distressed aboard their dinghy due to rough sea state at the seas off Sallikovil area in Trincomalee, on 22nd August 2019.

Accordingly, having observed the distressed dinghy drifting in the seas by the crew a Naval craft on patrol attached to the Eastern Naval Command, distressed fishermen were promptly assisted with required technical support. Further, Navy provided food and water for the tired fishermen.

These distressed fishermen are residents of Trincomalee area and in the ages of 28 to 31 and they were handed over to Harbour Police for further assistance.

Sri Lanka Navy is always alert on the sea farers who distress at sea and assist or rescue such persons whenever required.
