Navy’s diving operation to clean Idigasketiya pump house

The Navy conducted a clean-up effort at the Idigasketiya pump house which was stuck with debris clogged there following the inclement weather condition, on 24th September 2019.

Reacting to information on break down of a water pump in Baddegama, Idigasketiya pump house which was built across the Mahimulla river, a branch of Gin Ganga, SL Navy promptly dispatched a Navy diving team attached to the Southern Naval Command for the clean-up operation.

Due to the non operational main water pump, the upper areas of the river was over flow level up to a threat of flood and Navy divers who used their talented experiences cleaned the pump removing the clogged debris, after a strenuous task. The Navy divers were able to manage the situation bringing pump house back to operational, using their skilled professionalism.

Further, Navy relief teams are on action providing the necessary rescue and relief assistance to the people in flood affected areas under the increasing inclement weather.
