Navy carries out beach cleaning programmes in Southern coastline

Another beach clean-up drive of the Sri Lanka Navy, mooted in view of conservation of golden sandy beaches of the island, was successfully carried out at several beaches in the Southern Naval Command today (27th September 2019).

Accordingly, this timely initiative was launched at the Mahamodara beach in Galle and Paravi Wella beach in Tangalle. Naval personnel managed to clean these beaches and collect heaps of plastic, polythene and garbage that littered them. ‍‍‍

It is the responsibility of the public to protect the coastal ecosystem around the island and make it free of plastic waste. Meanwhile, the Navy is always committed to that task, realizing the importance of conserving the coastal ecosystem for the future generation. ‍‍‍
