Navy renders assistance to clean up debris under 02 bridges in Southern Naval Command

The Navy today (29th September) cleaned the underside of Dodangoda Bridge and Wakwella Bridge in Galle, which had been clogged with tree remains, hampering the water flow.

Due to heavy downpours of rain these days, the two bridges over Gin Ganga had collected remains of trees from the underside, hampering the free flow of water. As a result, the areas around the bridges were at risk of flooding.

Accordingly, the Southern Naval Command sent out two teams of Navy Marines and Divers to clear the blockage. Responding promptly to the situation, the naval personnel managed to remove debris collected under the bridges, preventing the risk of flooding in respective areas.
