Three persons held for transferring conch shells without valid passes

The Navy, during a search conducted in Ambiga Nagar, Jaffna on 11^th October 2019, held three suspects for transferring conch shells without valid passes.

Accordingly, the Northern Naval Command in coordination with Police STF-Jaffna whilst conducting a search in Ambiga Nagar area spotted a suspected dinghy and found 560 conch shells being transferred by the dinghy. The persons who were transferring these conch shells failed to produce a valid pass for the transfer of coach shells and they were subsequently apprehended.

The suspects have been identified as residents of Velani area aged 31, 34 and 40. The suspects along with the stock of conch shells and dinghy were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries- Jaffna for onward action.
