Series of lectures on “IMBL and its issues” held in Naval Commands

A series of lectures on “IMBL and its issues”, for the benefit of officers of the Sri Lanka Navy and the Coast Guard, is being held by Commodore Prasad Kariyapperuma, the Head of Naval Research Wing.

Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the lecture-series is scheduled to be held in all Naval Commands, Naval and Maritime Academy and Coast Guard Headquarters. Accordingly, the initial phase of the event has been successfully conducted in the Northwestern, Northern and Western Naval Commands. A large number of Navy and Coast Guard officers attached to respective commands participated in the programmes.

The lecture discusses about the IMBL, relevant articles of UNCLOS III, how IMBL was negotiated, marine ecology and bio diversity of the area and contemporary maritime issues.
