Navy holds two persons with about 600kg of Beedi leaves

A haul of about 600kg of Beedi leaves with two persons were apprehended during a patrol carried out by Navy at Udappuwa sea area on 05th November 2019.

Accordingly, a suspicious dingy had been observed during a patrol carried out by Northwestern Naval Command and by searching the dinghy this haul of Beedi leaves were recovered. The dinghy and two persons aboard were apprehended by the Navy. The suspects are residents of Pulmude and Kandakkuliya areas aged 26 and 31. The apprehended suspects, haul of Beedi leaves and the dinghy are due to be handed over to Customs Office-Sinnapadu for onward investigation.

Since the frequent Navy patrols the drug traffickers are in trouble and further Navy keeps the continuous vigilant eye to avert the illegal activities across and around the seas.
