Navy assists conduct of Katina Pinkama of Budadhasinharama Purana Viharaya

The Katina Pinkama Ceremony of Budadhasinharama Purana Viharaya in Makuluwa was held on 08th and 09th November 2019 with the participation of a large number of devotees and the event was assisted by the Sri Lanka Navy.

Accordingly, in line with the Katina ceremony a Boodhi Pooja was conducted and the all-night Pirith Chanting was commenced after the sacred Casket of Relics was brought by the Deputy Area Commander Commodore Anura Dhanapala. During the religious event, merits were transferred on fallen war heroes and blessings were invoked on all naval personnel and motherland. Subsequently, the “Katina Cheevaraya”, the robe offered to the resident monks on conclusion of their rain retreat, was taken from SLNS Dakshina to Budadhasinharama temple in a colourful procession. After the “Katina Cheevaraya” offering a dignified child was entered to ordination and these occasions were attended by scores of devotees. Upon the robe-offering ceremony an alms giving and Prikara offering were also held.

The Chief Prelate of the temple and devotees expressed their gratitude to Commander of the Navy and the entire organization for the exceptional contribution made by the Navy in successful conduct of the event.
