Navy intercepts 08 India-bound illegal immigrants in Talaimannar

The Navy held 08 Sri Lankans attempting to illegally migrate to India by boat, at Sandbank 07 in Talaimannar this morning (11^th November 2019).

Accordingly, the North Central Naval Command, during a patrol conducted at Sandbank 07 in Talaimannar, managed to apprehend these 08 Tamils who were on an attempt to illegally migrate to India by boat. Among the apprehended persons are 05 males, 01 female, 01 boy and a girl.

Further investigation into the incident is currently underway. In recent months, the Navy has been able to nab human smugglers and illegal immigrants as a result of its vigilance and continuous patrols.
