Two persons apprehended by Navy for engaging in illegal fishing

Two (02) persons who attempted to engage in illegal fishing at Sallativu beach area in Vakaneri, were apprehended by Navy, on 19^th November 2019.

Accordingly, these two persons who were on an attempt to engage in illegal fishing with banned nets at Sallativu beach area in Vakaneri, were held by Eastern Naval Command. Navy also seized a 144m long unauthorized Nylon net which was attempted to be used for fishing and 95 Nos. of lead weights. The apprehended persons are residents of Ichchalampattu and Sallativu areas, aged 36 and 39.

The suspects along with the banned net and lead weights were handed over to the office of the Assistant Director of Fisheries-Batticoloa.
