Navy assists to nab 02 persons with illegal stock of foreign cigarettes

SL Navy in coordination with the Police STF apprehended 02 persons with a stock of foreign illegal cigarettes at Battaramulla area, on 26^th November 2019.

Accordingly, this stock of foreign illegal cigarettes which contained 13 bundles, was apprehended with 02 suspects during a raid carried out in Battaramulla area by the SL Navy in coordination with the 1st Crime Division of Police STF-Sri Jayawardenapura.

The apprehended persons are residents of Colombo-10 and Maharagama areas aged 33 and 43.The suspects along with the illegal stock of cigarettes were handed over to the Thalangama Police for onward action.The Sri Lanka Navy is constantly vigilant on people who involve in illegal acts. Further, the Navy has nabbed a number of racketeers during naval operations and has produced them for legal action.
