Exercise ‘Blue Whale’ - 2019 concludes at Northwestern Naval Command

The Field Training Exercise (FTX) ‘Blue Whale’ – 2019 organized by Sri Lanka Navy Marines came to a successful end at the Northwestern Naval Command on 27th November 2019. Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva graced the final day of the exercise as the Chief Guest.

FTX ‘Blue Whale’ was conducted as the final phase of 7 month long training module of 5th Marine Basic Qualifying Course. It was held for 7 days (from 21st to 27th), including 5 days of rehearsal at the beach area of SLNS Barana followed by final rehearsal at selected venues of Silavathurai, Kayakkuli on 26th November, before the final exercise.

The exercise was augmented by a variety of naval vessels and craft, personnel from the Special Boats Squadron, Rapid Action Boats Squadron as well as the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sujeewa Perera,a group of senior naval officers and sailors were also present on this occasion.
