Navy recovers 08 unauthorized nets in Batticaloa lagoon area

During a search operation carried out today (07^th December) dawn, Navy personnel have been able to recovered 08 unauthorized nets each 400 feet long, in the Batticoloa lagoon area.

Keeping with Sri Lanka Navy’s efforts to restrain illegal fishing and trading in the country’s territorial waters, naval personnel conducted a search operation in the lagoon area of Batticaloa today, where these unauthorized nets which are used to poach fish, were discovered.

Subsequently, these unauthorized nets were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Batticaloa for onward legal action.
