JMSDF ship “DD-102 Harusame” arrives at the port of Trincomalee

“DD-102 Harusame” a Naval ship belongs to Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force, arrived at the port of Trincomalee today (10th December) on a goodwill visit. She was welcomed in accordance with naval traditions on arrival.

Commanding Officer of the ship Commander Ohshima Teruhisa paid a courtesy call on Deputy Area Commander of the Eastern Naval Area, Commodore Sanjeewa Dias. They held cordial discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanged mementos as a gesture of goodwill. Defence Attaché of the Japanese embassy in Sri Lanka, 1st Lieutenant Gaku Fukaura also attended the event.

151m long “DD-102 Harusame” has a displacement of 4550 tons and a crew of 165 both officers and sailors onboard. During 3 day visit, the ship’s crew is scheduled to participate in several special programmes including sports activities, arranged by the Sri Lanka Navy.

With the completion of their tour events, the ship will set sail for her next port of call from the island on 12th December.
