Navy bids adieu to Rear Admiral Sujeewa Perera

Sri Lanka Navy on 11th December 2019 bade farewell to ‍former Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Sujeewa Perera who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed in the past 35 years.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva along with Director Generals of the Navy extended best wishes to the retiring officer who celebrated his 55th birthday on 11th December.

Thereupon, Rear Admiral Perera was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. After fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, senior and junior sailors making a street line bade farewell to Rear Admiral Perera who was sent off amidst cheers.

Rear Admiral Sujeewa Perera joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 13th Intake in 1985.The outgoing officer held a number of key appointments such as; Deputy Area Commander of Northern and Western Naval Commands, Deputy Director Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Director General Personnel etc. during his distinguished naval career.
