Navy kept on standby to respond disastrous situations

As a result of the inclement weather across the island, a bridge across the road to “New Light Road” village which runs from Madavachchiya to Horowpothana, had been damaged and Sri Lanka Navy initiated to repair it on 12th December 2019.

Accordingly, this task was completed as another responsibility work of the Sri Lanka Navy which is always committed to assist the general public in any disastrous situation. As soon as the information about the damaged bridge received, a Naval relief team was dispatched to the location. The down pouring water stream of canal which flows across this area has gone high and the bridge over the canal was washed off by the pressurized water flow. The damaged bridge was repaired up to a useable level by the Navy rescue team with the assistance of Ceylon Electricity Board and residents of the area.

Navy’s repair work was helpful to the users of this bridge for a safe journey over it. This meritorious work was well commended and appreciated by the residents of the area. Sri Lanka Navy is committed to assist the people in any future adversity too.
