The ‘Walk of Determination’(Adistanaye Padayathrawa) from Nagadeepa, climbing Sri Pada and to Kiriwehera

SL Navy assisted the two disabled servicemen of Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Army who are on a walk (PadhaYathra) in view of uplifting the self confidence of the disabled heroes at the Humanitarian operation, from Nagadeepa to Katharagama.

Accordingly, the walk commenced by the two servicemen, Chief Petty Officer MBW Kumara of SL Navy and RWP Piyatissa of SL Army from the Nagadeepa ancient temple on completion of religious observances and with the blessings of pirith chanting conducted by Chief Prelate of Northern Province and Chief incumbent of Nagadeepa temple Most Venerable Praveenacharya Navadagala Padumakiththi Thissa Thero with the Maha Sanga, is scheduled to be terminated passing Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vauniya, Anuradhapura, Dambulla, Kandy, Hatton, Sri Pada, Ginigathhena, Avissawella, Kelaniya, Galle, Matara, Katharagama and finally by worshiping the Kiriwehera sacred site.

This walk was initiated by the two heroic disabled servicemen with relentless perseverance to emphasize the self confidence of the war heroes retired and in service who have sacrificed their eyes, legs, hands and limbs of the body for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and peace of the motherland. The significant feature of this walk is that Chief Petty Officer MBW Kumara of SL Navy is disabled of his leg and RWP Piyatissa of SL Army is fully blind.

A half of the walk has been completed by now and they worshiped the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya on 14th December 2019. They also conducted a robe offering ceremony ( Kanchuka Pooja) around the Kelaniya Dageba with the whole assistance of SL Navy and SL Army. On the following day (15th December) the two heroes were treated with a delicious breakfast at the Navy’s Light House Galley in Colombo.

This walk is being carried out under the patronage of the Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and Commander of the Army. Sri Lanka Police and the general public also support this interesting effort.
