Navy continues to assist people distressed by adverse weather

Some of the areas of the island are affected by flood due to the prevailing adverse weather condition in the country these days. Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, a number of emergency naval response teams have been deployed in affected areas by Naval Command as follows.

Accordingly, 03 relief teams have been deployed at Nawagaththegama, Saliyawewa and Eluwankulama in the Northwestern Naval Command

Four (04) relief teams at Polonnaruwa, Kiran and Punani in the Eastern Naval Command

Four (04) relief teams at Galnewa, Thabuthegama and Ipalogana in the North Central Naval Command

One (01) relief team at Katharagama in the Southern Naval Command

One (01) relief team at Panama in the Southeastern Naval Command

Accordingly, 13 relief teams and 15 dinghies are in action providing rescue and relief assistance to the distressed community.
