Navy takes to beach cleaning with a view to conserve pristine coastline for future generation

The Navy, as part of its wide array of coastal conservation programmes, conducted another beach cleaning drive at several beaches on 29th December 2019.

These programmes had been organised in Trincomalee and Colombo. Accordingly, the beaches of Wellawatta and Mattakkuliya as well as the beach of the Naval Dockyard were cleaned up during these cleaning drives. The beaches which had been polluted due to a number of reasons were restored to pollution-free beaches due to the Navy’s efforts.Meanwhile, the officers of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard also joined to clean the Wellawatta beach area.

Since, having pollution-free beaches in the country is a collective responsibility of the general public, the Sri Lanka Navy takes much interest in maintaining a beautiful coastal belt around the island at all times. As such, the Navy would be able to conserve the beach as well as it’s dynamic environment for the future generation.
