Navy assists apprehension of drug dealer with heroin

The Navy and the Police apprehended a drug dealer with heroin at Jaffna Fort on 31st December 2019.

In its effort to make a drug-free society, the Navy has been conducting a number of anti-drug operations and has thus far apprehended many drug dealers. The Navy, during a similar operation conducted with the assistance of the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) in Jaffna, has identified a suspicious person wandering at the Jaffna Fort. During further search, 35g of heroin has been found in his possession and the suspect was taken into custody accordingly.

The accused has been identified as a 29 year old resident in Manipai area. The Jaffna Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
