SLNS ‘Thammanna’ proudly celebrates its 24th anniversary

The Commanding Officer and the ship's company of SLNS ‘Thammanna’ proudly celebrated its 24th anniversary today (01st January 2020).

The anniversary celebrations have been organized by the Commanding Officer and ship's company of SLNS ‘Thammanna’, giving precedence to customary practice of religions. Further, shramadana campaigns have also been organized to clean the temple of Thammanna, Mohideen Jumma Mosque of Piyargama in Thalaimannar, Catholic Church of Thalaimannar and Shri Walukarama Temple of Thalaimannar.

On 17th December 2019, the Commanding Officer SLNS ‘Thammanna’ carried the relic casket in a colourful procession. Subsequent to the all-night Pirith Chanting, an Alms Giving and Pirikara Offering were also held the following day for 24 Bhikkus.

The anniversary celebration also featured an entertaining musical evening on 21st December 2019 and the series of events drew curtains after the traditional meal partaking of ‘Barakana’ held with the attendance of the Commanding Officer.
