Two (02) persons held with Methamphetamine (Ice), during joint raid by Navy and Police

During a joint operation conducted by the Navy and the Police in Kallapadu, Mullaitivu on 02nd January 2020, two persons have been apprehended with Methamphetamine (Ice).

Sri Lanka Navy that is playing a pivotal role in making a drug-free society, has conducted a number of operations to wage its war on drug trafficking and peddling of drugs in the country. During a similar operation, a suspicious person was detected by the Navy and the Police on a raid in Kallapadu area, Mullaitivu. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody for having 430g of Methamphetamine in his possession. He has been identified as a 27 year old resident of Mullaitivu.

Upon further interrogation of the suspect, the Navy also managed to nab another drug lord in the region. This person has also been identified as a resident of Mullaitivu, aged 35. His motorcycle used to peddle drugs was also taken into custody.

The suspects along with drugs and the motorcycle were handed over to the Mullaitivu Police for onward investigation. Meanwhile, The Navy will continue to conduct its anti-drug operations in an attempt to eradicate the drug menace from the society.
