Annual camp of Volunteer Naval Force begins in Welisara

In parallel with the anniversary of the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force (VNF), the annual camp of volunteer naval personnel commenced at the Volunteer Naval Force Headquarters in Welisara today (06th January 2020). Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Noel Kalubowila attended this occasion as the Chief Guest.

Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force will be celebrating its 68th anniversary on 09th January 2020 and the annual camp has been organized to coincide with this special day. Meanwhile, Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Noel Kalubowila delivered the opening remarks of the annual camp which commenced today.

Apart from that, Naval Assistant to the Commander of the Navy, Commodore Dhammika Kumara delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Customs and Traditions of the Navy’ and Deputy Director Naval Operations, Captain Aruna Weerasinghe’s speech focused on ‘Role of the Navy.

A host of senior VNF officers including the Commanding Officer of the Volunteer Naval Force, Commodore Toni Perera and a large number of senior and junior sailors were present on this occasion. The annual camp is scheduled to be held until 24th January.
