Navy shares its experience in coral farming and conservation with university students

A group of undergraduates of the University of Ruhuna, with a view to launching a coral farming and conservation project, engaged in a training programme with the Sri Lanka Navy on 18th January 2020.

The programme which was organized to deliver basic knowledge of coral plantation and conservation, was attended by 33 undergraduates from the University of Ruhuna. They are expected to work in collaboration with the Navy to launch this project to protect and conserve the dying coral reefs off the Rumassala beach in Galle.

Under the directives of Commander Southern Naval Area the training programme was successfully conducted by diving offices and sailors attached to the Southern Naval Command. Meanwhile, the university students also expressed their gratitude to the Navy for the assistance given.
