A person apprehended with heroin by Navy-Police joint operation

A person with heroin was apprehended by Sri Lanka Navy during a joint operation conducted in coordination with District Anti Corruption Unit, at Erukkulampiddi area in Mannar, on 21st January 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy which contributes the national effort of drug eradicating in a great deal, has been carrying out many operations to avert the drug trafficking through sea routes and on the land as well. Such an anti drug operation was carried out by the Navy in coordination with the District Anti Corruption Unit-Mannar, at Erukkulampiddi area in Mannar. During the raid, a suspicious person was observed and by searching him 01g and 220mg of heroin which was precisely concealed in his possession for sale, was found. Accordingly, the person with the amount of heroin was apprehended and he was identified as a drug dealer in the area.

The suspect is as a resident of Mannar area aged 33. He along with the amount of heroin was handed over to Mannar Police for further investigation. In order to prevent this nature of illegal drug trafficking, SL Navy always conducts raids.
