Navy lends its hand to another community service activity

The Navy’s Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) rendered lifesaving assistance to a group of individuals who conducted a beach cleaning programme at ‘Samudra Piyawara’ in Galle on 24th January 2020.

This beach cleaning programme had been organized by the District Secretariat Galle and it was attended by over 300 individuals. Upon a request of the District Secretary of Galle, 02 4RU teams were engaged in this programme, under the directives of Commander Southern Naval Area. The 4RU teams made sure the protection of those engaged in this timely drive. Apart from that, the lifesaving personnel of the Navy also pitched in with the volunteers to clean the coastal line.

In addition, the Navy has always been committed to the safety of the civilian population in the event of any emergency and is ready to lend its hand to community service activities as much as possible.
