Navy apprehends suspect with turtle flesh

The Navy apprehended a suspect with turtle flesh during a search operation conducted in Negombo area, in coordination with the Officials of Wildlife Conservation Department-Battaramulla, on 25th January 2020.

The Navy that is playing a pivotal role in the preservation of ocean resources in waters belonging to the island and its coastal belt, apprehended a suspect who was on an attempt to sell 01kg and 600g of turtle flesh, during a search conducted at Wella Veediya area in Negombo, in coordination with the Officials of Wildlife Conservation Department-Battaramulla. The suspect has been identified as a resident of Negombo area, aged 27.

Further investigation on the suspect along with turtle flesh is carried out by the Department of Wildlife Conservation-Battaramulla.
