CONEX 2020 commences

The Colombo Naval Exercise 2020 (CONEX 20) organized by the Sri Lanka Navy for the second time, commenced today (27^th January 2020) and it has been scheduled to conduct till 31^st January in the seas off Colombo area.

After its successful inauguration in 2019, the CONEX 20 organized by the Sri Lanka Navy for the second time was commenced onboard SLNS Sindurala this morning (27^th January) under the patronage of Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Nandana Jayarathna. Commodore Sea Training, Commodore Isira Kasiwatta, Commanding Officers of participating ships and the officers of the Sri Lanka Air Force also attended the inaugural ceremony.

The officers of the Navy and Air Force held further discussion on the work out plan of the exercise which will be included ships of SL Navy and Air Craft of SL Air Force.

The CONEX 20 is complemented by both Harbour and Sea Phases in which a wide range of naval exercises including; Replenishment at Sea (RAS) approaches, Towing Exercises (TOWEX) and Landing a helicopter on a ship.
