The Navy finds 02 sea turtles kept in fishing vessel

The Navy managed to find 02 live sea turtles kept in a fishing vessel, during a patrol conducted in the channel between Mandaitivu and Chirutivu on 27^th January 2020.

During a patrol conducted in the channel between Mandaitivu and Chirutivu, the Navy spotted these 02 live sea turtles kept in a fishing vessel. Accordingly, 03 persons aboard the vessel were held along with their fishing gear. The apprehended persons have been identified as residents of Jaffna, who are of 36, 25 and years of age.

The apprehended persons along with the sea turtles and fishing gear were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Velani for onward action.
