Navy recovers 09 unauthorized nets in Kannankuda lagoon area

During a search operation carried out on 15^th February 2020, Navy recovered 09 unauthorized fishing nets, at Kannankuda lagoon area in Batticoloa.

Keeping with Sri Lanka Navy’s efforts to restrain illegal fishing and conserve the marine resources in Sri Lankan territorial waters, navy conducted a search operation in the lagoon area of Kannankuda in Batticaloa and discovered these unauthorized nets which were laid for fishing.

Subsequently, these unauthorized nets due to be handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Batticaloa for onward action.
