Rear Admiral DKP Dassanayake assumes duties as Commander Northwestern Naval Area

Rear Admiral DKP Dassanayake assumed duties as Commander Northwestern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (18^th February 2020).

Accordingly, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera who previously held office as Commander Northwestern Naval Area formally handed over the duties to his successor at the Command Headquarters. Prior being appointed as the Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral DKP Dassanayake held office as Director Logistics Management Cell at the Naval Headquarters.

The new Area Commander was warmly received to the Northwestern Naval Area, according a Guard of Honour and the same tradition followed suit before Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera leaving the Northwestern Naval Command, amidst the wishes of fellow naval officers. Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera is due to assume charge as Commander Eastern Naval Area.
