Navy assists apprehension of persons with Kerala cannabis

Navy apprehended a person with 100g of Kerala cannabis, during a coordinated search conducted with Police Anti-Organized Crime Unit in the general area of Thewaththa in Negombo on 27^th February 2020.

As part of its efforts in creation of a country free of drugs, the Navy conducted this coordinated search with the Anti-Organized Crime Unit in Thewaththa area in Negombo and managed to find 37 packets containing 100g of Kerala cannabis in the possession of a suspect. The apprehension was made while the suspect was carrying cannabis to sell and he has been identified as a 49 year old drug peddler residing in Ragama.

The suspect along with cannabis was handed over to the Ragama Police for onward investigation.
