Commander of the Navy attends Annual Sea Swimming Competition at Mount Lavenia as Chief Guest

Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva graced as the chief guest of the prize awarding ceremony of the two mile sea swimming competition organized by Sri Lanka Water Sports Club for the 83rd year which was held at the seas off Mount Lavenia on 29th February and 01st March.

The two mile swimming competition was attended by large number of competitors representing the school teams, tri-services and swimming clubs across the country. Sri Lanka Navy deployed Life Saving sailors(4RU), rescue boats and Medical Assistant sailors to ensure the safety of the competitors.

Mechanical Engineering (Ship Wright) sailor GSN Perera who participated in the event representing SL Navy secured the second place of the open category. Commander of the Navy gave away the awards and certificates for the winners. Meanwhile, a memento was presented to Commander of the Navy by executive committee members of Sri Lanka Water Sports Club.
