Admiral Clancy Fernando Memorial Navy Cup Sailing Regatta – 2020 concludes on successful note

Admiral Clancy Fernando Memorial Navy Cup Sailing Regatta – 2020 organized by Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka which was held on the waterfront of Galle Face Green on 29th February and 1st March came to successful conclusion, today ( 01st March 2020).

Eighty seven (87) champion sailors from renowned sailing clubs in the country including spirited sailors of Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Pool with 70 sail boats took part in this event and they competed displaying professional skills of Navy in sailing arena bringing many victories for SL Navy. Among the participants were Royal Colombo Yacht Club, Royal College Colombo, S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia, Ceylon Motor Yacht Club and Ladies' College, Colombo. A display of rides on jet ski and dragon craft was exhibited for the entertainment of spectators.

The prize giving ceremony was held at the Galle Face Green with the gracious participation of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva as the chief guest, in the evening today. Madam Clancy Fernando, the beloved spouse of late Admiral Clancy Fernando was also present on this occasion. Chief of Staff of the Navy, Directer General Operations, Director General Services, Director Sports, Senior and junior officers and large number of sailors attended the event.
