Naval personnel in North Central Naval Command volunteer to donate blood

A blood donation campaign organized by the North Central Naval Command was held on 23rd March 2020 at SLNS Pandukabhaya, with the participation of naval personnel attached to the command.

In consequence of the effects of novel coronavirus, stored blood reserves in blood banks across the country have been fast declining. In such circumstances, this blood donation campaign was organized at the Naval Hospital in SLNS Pandukabaya, to help overcome the shortage of blood. Further, the event had been organized under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and guidance of Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Lalith Disanayake. A large number of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command volunteered to donate their blood, considering this noble cause as a national requirement.

The blood bank staff of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and naval medical staff also made a praiseworthy contribution for the successful conduct of this event. Meanwhile, the Navy is ready to make the best of its contribution in future eventualities having realized the national interests.
