Navy conducts disinfection programmes at General Hospital – Kalutara and Colombo Port Medical Division

In its continuous efforts to control the spread of new coronavirus in the country, the Navy conducted two disinfection programmes at General Hospital – Kalutara and Colombo Port Medical Division today (25th March 2020).

Under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the Navy is carrying out a number of disinfection programmes in public places. Accordingly, these two disinfection programmes at General Hospital – Kalutara and Colombo Port Medical Division were carried out by the Navy’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit, under the guidance of Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe. The CBRN Unit sterilized all premises of said institutions in accordance with proper sterilization guidelines.

In the future too, the Navy is ready to carry out similar sterilization programmes in public places to prevent the further spread of the virus.
