Navy conducts sterilization programme at Maning Market-Colombo

As a measure of controlling the spreading of new coronavirus in the country, Sri Lanka Navy conducted sterilization programmes at Colombo Maning Market premises, on 27th March 2020.

Under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Siva, number of sterilization programmes are being carried out by the Navy’s Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Unit. Accordingly, CBRN Unit engaged in sterilizing the Colombo Maning Market premises. Since, the government has decided to maintain trade activities at the Maning Market as an essential service, the premises was sterilized to keep a safe environment for the traders in the market and who come from outside there.

The sterilization of the whole market premises was conducted following standard operational procedure and the Navy is prepared to conduct further sterilization programmes in order to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
