Navy assists to bring ashore fisherman closely associated with person infected with coronavirus

After being notified by the Trincomalee Police, the Navy today (29th March 2020) brought ashore a fisherman who closely associated with a person infected with the new coronavirus and had gone for fishing practices.

After being informed of a person who needs to be quarantined as he had closely associated with person infected with coronavirus and he was attempting to return ashore in Trincomalee secretly, after venturing to sea for fishing, a group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command commenced an operation in search of the suspicious persons and the craft he was aboard. Subsequently, the Navy managed to locate the said parson and the craft he was aboard along with 02 more suspicious vessels and 10 persons aboard those vessels. As such, the Navy escorted all these 03 vessels ashore by early in this morning (29th March 2020).

Subsequently, their vessels were too disinfected by Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit of the Navy. Thereupon, all the returnees were handed over to harbour police Trincomalee for further investigation.
