Navy apprehends group of persons engaged in illegal fishing.

Navy apprehended a group of persons for engaging in illegal fishing, during a patrol carried out in the seas off Arisimale in Pulmudai, on 31stMarch 2020.

Continuous patrols are carried out by Navy to avert illegal fishing activities and during such a patrol carried out by a team of Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command in the seas off Arisimale in Pulmudai, a suspicious dinghy was spotted. By the search of the dinghy, it was revealed that they didn’t hold a valid pass for fishing. Accordingly, six (06) persons, dinghy and few other fishing gear were taken into naval custody.

The suspects were identified as residents of Pulmudai area aged 37-54.The suspects together with the seized dinghy and other fishing gear were handed over to the Pulmudai Police for onward investigation.
