Navy conducts NSR programme to distribute dry rations among inmates of ‘Mithuru Mithuro’ Rehab Centre
Sri Lanka Navy, as part of its Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project, conducted a programme today (04th April 2020) to distribute dry rations among inmates of ‘Mithuru Mithuro’ Rehab Centre, who are facing hardships following the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Naval Social Responsibility project is being conducted under the able guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva. While taking an interest in wider social issues, this programme was organized by the Navy to distribute dry rations sufficient for 10 days among 338 inmates who are undergoing rehabilitation for drug addiction at ‘Mithuru Mithuro’ Rehab Centre. The programme was held at the Light House Galley premises in Colombo with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Chief of Staff the Navy, Director General Services and a group of senior officers. The programme was also sponsored by 02 organizations and 02 individuals.
Sri Lanka Navy being one of the first responders at the scene of an emergency in the country, will continue to perform its Naval Social Responsibility programmes in future as well.
