Navy distributes pharmaceutical drugs to doorstep of patients attending clinics in Naval Hospitals

The prevailing situation in the country had greatly hampered the monthly receipt of medication of retired and serving naval personnel as well as their family members who are attending clinics in Naval Hospitals. Taking into consideration the predicament that these people are in, the Navy on 06th April 2020 launched a programme to distribute pharmaceutical drugs to the doorstep of those members residing in Galle and Matara districts.

Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and guidance of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul this timely programme was held for the benefit of patients receiving long-term treatment from Naval Hospitals. As part of the first phase of this programme launched in Galle and Matara districts, pharmaceutical drugs last-prescribed by consultant physicians were delivered to the homes of those members who had submitted their prescriptions.

The entire process of medicine distribution was closely monitored by Command Medical Officer of Southern Naval Command. Meanwhile, the Navy is ready to conduct similar programmes in future as well.
