People confined to homes rejoiced in entertainment provided by Navy

Authorities have declared certain districts in the island as high risk areas for the spread of new coronavirus. Stepping in to provide some respite to the people confined at apartments under self-quarantine in Colombo district, the Navy on 05th April 2020 commenced several musical programmes in a bid to lift their spirits.

Accordingly, this series of entertainment events organized under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, found more destinations on 09th April 2020 at Randiya Uyana housing complex in Henemulla and houses in Handala area. The effort was also joined by several artists, to amuse the cheerful audience for a few hours.

On the sidelines of entertainment, those residents were also educated on good hygiene habits as well as social distancing to prevent being infected by the virus. Meanwhile, the Navy is determined to carry out similar programmes in the best interests of the people.
