Navy conducts disinfection programme at Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya

As part of the Navy’s effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus in the country, a disinfection programme was carried out at the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya today (12th April 2020).

Going by the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, this sterilization effort was conducted by the Navy’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit. The CBRN Unit properly decontaminated every location on the temple premises, in accordance with proper sterilization guidelines. The Chief Incumbent of the temple, Ven. Bellanwila Dhammarathana thero recognized the full worth of prompt measures taken by the Navy as well as other security forces in view of mitigating the spread of this deadly virus.

Meanwhile, the Navy will continue to undertake similar disinfection programmes in populous locations, to arrest further spread of the virus.
