Navy assists distribution of essential supplies among people in Panama

The Navy, on 15th April 2020, rendered assistance to transport essential supplies to the Panama area, for distribution among community.

As a measure to curb the spread of novel coronavirus in the country, the government introduced a new mechanism to deliver essential supplies to the doorstep of community. Going by this initiative, the Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society in Pottuvil conducted a programme to distribute essential commodities among the people in Panama area.

Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and supervision of Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Senarath Wijesuriya, naval personnel attached to the command were engaged in this task to transport and distribute essential commodities among the people in Panama area.

The Navy will continue to conduct the distribution of essential commodities among communities who are facing hardships with the imposition of curfew across the country.
