Navy apprehends woman and two men with cannabis

The Navy apprehended a woman and two men with cannabis, during a patrol conducted in Tangalle area on 18th April 2020.

Despite the prevailing situation in the country, Sri Lanka Navy is tirelessly working on the national task of suppressing drug trafficking both on land and at sea. As part of these operations, a group of naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command searched 02 suspicious men wandering on Dhammarathna Mawatha in Danketiya and found 48g of cannabis in their possession. On receipt of a tip-off from the two suspects the Navy also managed to apprehend another woman selling illegal drugs in the locality.

The woman was identified as a 33 year old resident of the same area. Meanwhile, the two men are residents of Marakolliya in Tangalle. The apprehended 03 suspects along with cannabis were handed over to the Tangalle Police for onward investigation.
