Navy assists apprehension of 04 suspects with heroin and Kerala cannabis

The Navy apprehended 04 suspects in possession of heroin and Kerala cannabis, during a coordinated search conducted with the Police in Illuppaikaddawai and Mulankavil areas on 15th and 16th May 2020.

The Navy has been conducting regular search operations to apprehend illegal drug traffickers. During a similar operation, naval personnel on duty at the Anthonipuram Coastal Observation Point in the North Central Naval Command searched a suspicious dinghy approaching the Illuppaikaddawai beach area on 15th May and found 02g of heroin in possession of three (03) persons aboard the dinghy. Accordingly, the 03 suspects along with the dingy and its fishing gear were taken into naval custody.

Based on a tip-off from the suspects, the Navy, today (16th May 2020) carried out a coordinated operation with the Illuppaikaddawai Police in Mulankavil area and nabbed another suspect hiding in a house, for possessing 02g of Kerala cannabis.

The apprehended persons were identified as residents of Nachchikuda and Mulankavil, from 25 to 30 years of age. The suspects, amount of heroin and Kerala cannabis and fishing gear were handed over to Illuppaikaddawai Police for further investigation.
