Navy assists to apprehend person with tablets of illegal drug

A person with tablets of illegal drug was apprehended by Sri Lanka Navy during a joint operation conducted with District Anti Corruption Unit, at Orrs Hill area in Trincomalee, on 22^nd May 2020.

Sri Lanka has been carrying out many operations to protect seas around the island and to avert the illegal activities on the land as well. Such an operation was conducted by the Navy in coordination with the District Anti Corruption Unit-Trincomalee, at Orrs Hill area in Trincomalee. During the search, a suspicious person was observed and by searching him 650 tablets of illegal drug (150mg) and 60 tablets of illegal drug (05mg) were found in his possession. Accordingly, the person with illegal drugs was apprehended.

The suspect is as a resident of the same area aged 50. He along with the tablets of illegal drug was handed over to Trincomalee Police for further investigation.
